| Answer: The main reason why the Heathen Hangout is for nontheists only because in practice our members often seek nontheist answers to various questions, and in practice, when sharing deeply personal information on those questions, it is far easier and far less open to unnecessary confrontation to specify for nontheist members only. Other reasons include that overall reduction in unnecessary confrontation. Almost paradoxically, by being a private club limited to nontheist members, it actually reduces a repetitive kneejerk hostility to theism; many public discussion/debate boards run by atheists theoretically for everyone though in practice for atheists often show in practice a far greater and very repetitive simplistic anti-theism, while on the contrary the HH strives to help form and support a vibrant, positive, mature, tolerant and pluralist nontheism.
